Lucky Last submission is .......

Shazza Bishop - Bubbles

No journalling, kept it simple. I wanted to show that sometimes less is more!!

I used a special technique to paint the bubbles and water on the floor, I painted on to acetate without it seperating. Cut the finished bubbles out of the acetate.......

This is my DS Adam when he was a littlely :) The bath tub was cut from off white card stock. the little duck was also cut out.

Cheers
Shazza

Look at this Fab submission, from...

July Gaceta - Pool Party

Love your submission, you really are girl that loves using bright colors :) must be your personality! Great take on the challenge, I love it!! - shazza

.....and they keep coming, this sub is from -

Tanya Joseph - Two Little Piggies

That photo is soo prescious, I love it, love the old bath tub....love the vintage look about this.
I just love everything :) you are such a clever bunny Tanya!!! Did I mention I love it!! - Shazza

Another Fabulous submission from........

Shelee Lark - Are we Having fun Yet?

Hi Shazza,
I found this to be a real challenge this month!
Having no children myself I don't have
'bath-time' pictures except for ones of Holly.
So I wanted to showcase that you can
incorporate your pets into any theme. I've had
these photos of Holly for a while and was happy
to scrap them finally. I tried something new
- plaiting three strands of ribbon to create
a border around the edge of the PP.
Looking forward to next month now!
Cheers, Shelee :)
I love these pics of 'Holly' Shelee! Not sure if she is
enjoying her bath or not.
Love how you
incorporated the plaited ribbon, its great when
a DT tries
something different. The title is perfect,
great layout you handled the
challenge perfectly
- Shazza

Hey! Look at this submission from......

Michelle Winston - Suds Lover

Mary Cassatt's painting "The Bath" is a beautifully simple work, depicting a
mother and child, washing the child's feet. I took inspiration from the
simplicity, and also the greeny/teal colour in the painting. I have also
used a bath time photo of my youngest son, who used to adore his
baths...hoping his new resentment of water in general, is just a phase!

Ooh Michelle!! I think you have really captured the Cassatt feel to
this layout. Gorgeous color scheme and look at the little pixie face,
how cute!! You've kept it simple yet stunning. Great work Michelle
- Shazza

WOW! Another fantastic submission to share, this time from ..... :)

Mandy Snow - Bathtime Bliss

Hey there Shazza
Had loads of fun with this one....saw vintage all the way, but I just can never seem to manage vintage...so I went artsy instead...
Used the green and orange and browns in the paintaing, also used the bath theme and added the flowers transparencies as they remind me of water....
Hope you like it...Take care Mandy xxx

Mandy I love it, from the paint splattering to your pin wheels, I love the title and the pic of your two boys. Well done with this months inspiration Mandy!! - Shazza

Next DT submission is from.....

Lisa Hanrahan - Bathtime

Heres what Lisa had to say....... this was a fun layout to create! I was inspired by the Bath theme and the softer colors. this is such a beautiful artwork!!

Love your choice of colors Lisa, great photo of your girls, love the flowers you have used. Great job - Shazza

First of the submissions by the Design Team!

First up is......

Amanda Taylor - Squeaky Clean

I took inspiration from the colours of the painting, by the way I loved this painting, and got a baby pic of Connor wrapped in a towel, all squeaky clean after his bath lol. - Amanda

Love the background pp on this layout amanda, cute photo of Connor, love the title! Fantastic! - Shazza

Welcome to ARTastic 2010

Hi Ladies,

This is a challenge site that inspires you with paintings from the Great Artists. Each month we feature a new painting, the Design Team then submit their interpretations. At the end of the month we all vote on the entries. The winning layout is then featured for the following month in the sidebar and the winner receives a blinkie to display on their blog, they also win the 'Picture This' winning prize for the month. We usually have at least 3 prizes each month including a 'Random Draw' prize and a RAK from our Guest DT member.............. lots of reasons to have a go at our challenges!!!

Well I hope everyone had a great Christmas Day and enjoyed spending time with family and friends........the day just goes to quick for me!! This year we had a quiet New Years, I went out for dinner and then watched the celebrations on TV. I hope you all had an enjoyable New Years and didn't wake up with a sore head this morning!!!

With ARTastic challenge blog this year, I really want to inspire you all. We have lots of followers of this site so it would be great to see more of you have a go :) Last month we had 3 newbies that tried the Vermeer challenge which was fantastic and of course we have our regulars that enter each month (you know who your are!!) We are always adding more prizes to give everyone a fair chance at having a win!

I am glad to say that I have the best Design Team on the net. These ladies are always so creative and inspiring. they add a personal touch with their comments on entries during the month. They do a great job with helping out voting for the winners each month, which can get very difficult when we have so many fantastic entries to chose from...

My New Years resolution for 2010 is:

To be more creative and inspire others to have a go!

SO.... with that in mind

To start off ARTastic and January 2010 with a Bang!!!

I am offering a fantastic prize of a Guest DT spot for March.

This means that you get to showcase your work, bio, and blog site etc..... so we can all see how creative you have been. Remember all this adds to your scrappy 'CV' when going for other DT positions :)

If you are interested in this opportunity all you have to do is...

1) enter the challenge for January
2) When emailing your layout to me just add a paragraph as to why? you would like to win a Guest DT spot on ARTastic
3)Include your blog address

Winner will be picked by me and announced at the end of the month.

Ladies give it a go, this is a great opportunity!

.......for those who arn't interested in the guest DT spot you just send me your layout as normal.

Entries should be sent to shazzaalleyes@hotmail.com

Cheers
Shazza

Saturday 30 January 2010

I will announce the winners tomorrow arvo!

Hi Ladies,

I'm still waiting on a couple of DT members to vote, I will make the announcement tomorrow afternoon...... so stay tuned!!!

cheers
Shazza

January's inspiration will come from........

The Australian painter PRO HART with his art piece Floral # 2

The Design Team and I thought it would be a good idea to use an Australian artist for Januarys inspiration, as we celebrate Australia Day on January 26th. This piece of art work is an easy one to use for inspiration. you could use the colors, shapes or even the overlapping technique. You could even add lots and lots of flowers. looking foward to seeing what you come up with.

Added Criteria

*ARTastic Diva Demand* For an extra two bonus points ....... add a cluster of flowers or a bouquet of flowers or a vase of flowers ( This is optional, you dont have to do this but it does give you the extra bonus points!)

Cheers and have fun
Shazza

Please Welcome our New DT Member.......

Jennifer Campbell

I’m Jennifer Campbell, 31 years old, I’m married to Brian, the love of my life, for the past 7 years. We have 2 fabulous children, Bryce 4 ½ years old and Clara 3 years old. We are currently building our dream log cabin.

I began scrapbooking in college which is over 10 years ago. I have always loved all types of crafts growing up. One of my other interests as a child was the beginning of my love for photography. I remember always having my own camera that I always carried around. When you put those two things together, my love of scrapbooking was born.

Music has always played an integral part of my life whether it was for enjoyment, dancing, choreography, relaxation, or now inspiration. I have always had a love of art as well.

This is my 10th year of teaching kindergarten. Before becoming a school teacher, I taught dance for several years. Currently, I enjoy designing, teaching scrapbooking and creating scrapbook kits.

************************************

Please welcome Jennifer to our team. She will be starting with us in March.
I'm very excited to have her joining us and will share some of her beautiful layouts with everyone very soon. Who knows she may add some lovely comments to the entries this month and participate in the voting at the end of the month :)

Hi Shazza,
This is my first entry into your challenge blog. I have

the vibrancy in Pro Hart's painting I chose the
background,
scrunching and sanding the papers to show
the texture
and the colours for my bouquet & cluster of
flowers
my title ' bloomin' beautiful' was chosen as it
described both the painting & my niece in Aussie slang.
Thank you for a great challenge

Hi Shazz,
Got inspired to do this challenge today, took inspiration from the gorgeous colours in the painting, I've used some floral diecuts for my bouquet as well...
For mine I've used a masking tape background coloured with water pencils, added torn book pages and then added a bit of gesso over the top for an arty feel....
My layout is titled "You make me smile"
Thanks for a great challenge its nice to get creative and do something different...
- Maria

Beautiful piece Maria :) Love how you incorporated the tape measure and cute bird cage, I'm impressed with the background using the water colors and gesso (Imight try that technique soon, if you don't mind) but most of all I love that photo.....and it makes me smile too! - cheers Shazza

A little bit of info about this months artist Pro Hart!

Kevin Charles "Pro" Hart, MBE (30 May 1928 – 28 March 2006), born in Broken Hill, New South Wales, was considered the father of the Australian Outback painting movement and his works are widely admired for capturing the true spirit of the outback. He was nicknamed "Professor" (hence "Pro") during his younger days, when he was known as an inventor.

His pictures are typically painted with oil or acrylic, scenes of rural town life, topical commentary and some religious subjects. His illustrations for the collection of Henry Lawson's poems show keen powers of character observation combined with a humorous wit. Some who he quipped were the "art mafia" have called his style populist and derivative. Pro was also a sculptor, working with welded steel, bronze and ceramics.

Pro Hart was known for his novel techniques including Cannon Painting and Balloon Painting and in 2002 was using his own DNA as a mark of authenticity in his paintings. Retrospective application of a DNA mark is available for older Pro Hart paintings.

He was a fervent opponent of gun laws in Australia, maintaining that everyone had a right to take it like a man. He once suggested that members of the Australian Labor Party and the Greens be thrown aboard a canoe in the middle of the Tasman Sea, with nothing more than a broken oar and rusted compass.

Pro believed in Government conspiracy theories. such as the covering up of UFO "sightings" and a world "database" containing information on every human on the planet.

Hart was also a personal friend of One Nation Party founder Pauline Hanson and financially assisted her when she was on trial for fraud charges in 2002.

He collected vintage cars and motor cycles, and invented many kinds of engines and machines. He enjoyed pistol shooting, reading the Bible, and organ music. He was the proud owner of a Rodgers electric pipe organ, which was said to be the largest of its kind in Australia. This was installed in his gallery, a step which considerably enhanced its value as a Broken Hill tourist attraction.

He was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire in 1976. In 1982 he received an Honorary Life Membership of Society International Artistique for outstanding artistic achievement. He received an Australian Citizen of the Year award in 1983, and was known for his charitable work and generosity.

Pro Hart developed motor neurone disease in later life. He died in the early hours of 28 March, 2006. He had been unable to paint for the last six months of his life. A large state funeral was held for him on April 4, 2006 in Broken Hill — the first state funeral in New South Wales to be held west of the Blue Mountains.

He was interred in the Broken Hill cemetery.

******************************************

I have been to Broken hill and seen Pro Harts gallery, sculptures and many other things of interest. It was amazing, room after rooms filled with artwork....a great experience. - Shazza

Another entry in my inbox today from one of our regulars........

Robin Temple-Jenkins - Beautiful

Hi Shazza,
I must say that I loved the Pro Hart piece--the colors are so vibrant and uplifting. I knew I had to do this layout on my vibrant and uplifting little flower - Temple ;D

Hi Robin! Love this bright layout! Great idea of the flowers in the wheelbarrow. Another smiley photo of Temple :) The blue pp looks stamped, it really stands out. Great take - Shazza
